Cleaning tips: how to clean your BACSAC\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n

With time and life in the open air, your BACSAC's outer fabric will start to show traces of dirt, moss or white lime deposits. Here is some advice on how to care for the fabric in order to give it a new lease of life.<\/b><\/p>\n

Why is there moss and lime scale?<\/b><\/h2>\n

The <\/span>Moss or lichen<\/b> comes from microscopic cells in trees - called <\/span>spores<\/b>. It is characteristic of undergrowth and grows in cool, damp and shady areas. Moss is not a parasitic plant, nor is it mould, so it does not interfere with your plants\u2019 growth. <\/span>Traces of <\/span>limescale <\/b>usually appear when your plants are watered with tap water. On the other hand,<\/span>rainwater <\/b>contains neither limescale nor chlorine. <\/span>White vinegar<\/b> is your best ally to get rid of traces of limestone!<\/span><\/p>\n

How to clean your BACSAC's outer fabric?<\/b><\/h2>\n

In general, remember to clean the outer fabric of your BACSAC every year so that the marks are not too deep-rooted.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Cleaning with a brush<\/b><\/h3>\n
    \n
  1. Scrape off surface deposits with a knife blade;<\/li>\n
  2. Using a brush soaked in a mixture of water and white vinegar, scrub the marks vigorously;<\/li>\n
  3. Rinse the fabric with clean water.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    High-pressure jet cleaning\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n

    This method is very effective for removing moss, but less so for limescale. To remove traces of limescale, perform a first rough cleaning with a brush (see above<\/em>).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Machine wash\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n

    If you wish to empty your BACSAC completely for storage or to renew the soil, you can give it a new look by putting it in the washing machine. After removing all the soil and doing a rough cleaning with a brush (see above<\/em>), put your BACSAC in the washing machine at 40\u00b0 Celsius and add white vinegar to the detergent in the tray.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Autumn is the ideal time to repot your plants and give them more space to grow (read the article<\/em><\/a>). <\/span>Si vous rempotez votre plante dans un BACSAC\u00ae ayant d\u00e9j\u00e0 servi, pensez \u00e0 bien nettoyer et d\u00e9sinfecter le feutre g\u00e9otextile int\u00e9rieur, afin d\u2019\u00e9liminer la pr\u00e9sence d\u2019\u00e9ventuels champignons ou maladies. Pr\u00e9f\u00e9rez l\u2019usage de vinaigre blanc ou autres solutions \u00e9cologiques, plut\u00f4t que de l\u2019eau de Javel qui risquerait d\u2019endommager le feutre g\u00e9otextile.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
