BACSEEDS is a collection of seed books

Each BACSEEDS book features a vegetable plant through the prism of its diversity. A journey of discovery to celebrate the fruit’s variety of shapes and colours. An invitation to explore its culture and flavours; with organic, farmer-produced and reproducible seeds – to start again and share them, ad infinitum.

BACSEEDS is a graphic object

This accordion book – called a leporellothat flips through and unfolds into a 1m30 work by a guest artist (tomato collection & radish collection: Agathe Monnier). The illustrations celebrate the beauty of each of the featured vegetable’s varieties. BACSEEDS is printed and manufactured in the Île-de-France region.

BACSEEDS is a seed library

Protected in the folds of the book and arranged by variety, the seeds are kept on paper sown with organic cellulose wadding. When sowing, simply cut out the paper around the seed and plant it in the ground.

BACSEEDS is the fruit of a dream

A dream that Virgile Desurmont, co-founder of , has had for a while, and that came to life when he met graphic designer Marion Lihoreau, artist Agathe Monnier and the organic seed company La Semence Bio®.

“Ten years ago, we went to the heights of Aix-en-Provence to meet Cyriaque and Judicaël from La Semence Bio® - two passionate and socially responsible seed producers. From this meeting was born the aspiration to participate in our own way, one day, in the promotion of this extraordinary living heritage. In 2020, the confinement gave us the time to dream some more; then the meeting with Marion and Agathe, the desire to make this seed collection project a reality. The visual identity of this new collection is the result of the graphic designer and illustrator’s complicity and complementarity.” — Virgile Desurmont
